Allison Lansverk, Ph.D.
Dr. Allison Lansverk joined Gemstone as the Associate Director in 2022. Originally from Montana, Dr. Lansverk earned a BS in Biology and a BA in English Writing from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington, and a Ph.D. in the Interdisciplinary Doctoral Program of the Biological Sciences from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. She also completed a science education postdoc at the same institution.
Dr. Lansverk’s scientific training focused on evolutionary biology, with specific efforts aimed at understanding variability in bird song, and its genetic and learned social underpinnings. More recently, her professional research focus has been on effective pedagogical methods in biology labs, professional development for investigators and students in the research space, and professional and academic development for diverse populations in science.
Dr. Lansverk's portfolio includes staff supervision, programming, curricular design, student support, liaising with campus partners, and communications. She also teaches two of the Gemstone courses.
