Gems Camp

Gems Camp is the Gemstone Honors Program's two-night, off campus orientation program designed to help incoming Gemstone students transition to the University of Maryland and the Gemstone Honors Program prior to the first day of classes. Campers participate in fun team building activities and meet new students while learning valuable information about UMD and Gemstone. If living on campus, students have the added benefit of moving in early.

At Gems Camp, first-year students immediately develop a diverse social network of fellow classmates, upperclassmen, and Gemstone staff. You will start college with the pride and excitement of a True Terp along with an introduction of campus culture & traditions!

Save the Dates for Gems Camp 2020!

Tuesday, August 25th-Thursday, August 27th, 2020

Gems Camp is attended by about 75% of the incoming Gemstone Class. The advantages range from moving in to campus early, to meeting students with whom you will be participating in a three-year research project. Gems Camp is the first opportunity for students have to meet other new and current Gemstone students. Based on our past surveys, our research shows that students who attend Gems Camp have a higher sense of belonging on campus than those who do not participate!

Registration for Gems Camp 2020 will be open in late May 2020. For any questions, please contact
